I’ve always been fascinated with the human face. It’s incredible how no two are alike, and how a single expression can tell a whole story. I could paint the same person a hundred times and always find something new.
My "Lifelines" series is all about finding the "soul" of a face through simplicity. I start with ten or more sketches for a single face, gradually discarding details until only the most essential and interesting lines remain. These heavy, prominent lines are the heart of my style—they define the character and make the expression recognizable.
To bring these portraits to life, I use a combination of oil and cold wax. I love this medium for its transparency; it allows me to create deep, interesting layers and textures that contrast with my bold linework. Whether I’m painting a public figure, a close friend, or a total stranger, my goal is to translate their unique essence into my own personal visual language.
