Quantum Entanglement Fiber and Mixed Media show by Talia Johns and Kinetic Large Scale Abstract Works by Jim Lawler
OPENING RECEPTION MAY 15, 2026 5-9 PM
Where art practices intersect through shared language of line, structure, form and matter Talia Johns and guest artist Penelope Sharp collaborate in this multi-dimensional show. Combining wire, thread, wood, stone and found elements, their sculptures explore connection and tension, where geometric and fluid forms coexist and distinctions between authorship dissolve.
Standing at a commanding 68x58”, the featured works by Jim Lawler serve as a forensic record of physical energy. Utilizing drawing, layering and scraping techniques, Lawler moves beyond the decorative to document the “architecture of a gesture”. The series ranges from heavy industrial textures of slate and acid yellow to atmospheric deep blue expanses, all unified by a consistent, rhythmic brushwork. “These works are not static images; they are records of physical force” says Jim

Santosha, Complete Contentment, oil paintings by Cristina Bowes
OPENING RECEPTION FRIDAY MARCH 27, 2026 5-9 PM, SHOW RUNS MARCH 20- APRIL 12, 2026
In this show you will find oil abstract on canvas by Cristina Bowes in her show titled “Santosha” complete contentment. In this exhibit Cristina invites the viewer to explore feelings of complete contentment.—the quiet space where nothing needs to be judged as good or bad. Each work emerges from a practice of allowing things to simply be as they are. Rather than pushing toward a predetermined meaning or trying to prove a point, the process became one of listening, noticing, and accepting what unfolded.
What remains is not an argument, but an outcome. Each piece stands as it is, complete in the state it reached, without needing to be better, worse, or anything else. This show is an invitation to encounter that same openness: to look without needing resolution, and to allow what is present to simply be what it is.
Cristina’s artwork is characterized by one-of-a-kind oil abstract paintings that harmonize color, movement, and composition. Her goal is to create pieces that not only captivate the eye but also resonate on a deeper emotional level with the viewer. Believing in the importance of authenticity, Cristina’s art reflects her personal experiences and feelings. Each piece is an exploration of her inner world, inviting viewers to connect with their own emotions and experiences. Through her work, she aims to foster a meaningful dialogue between art and the viewer, encouraging a shared journey of discovery.

Hot Rocks (Big Hits & Fazed Cookies) by Sebnem Duzgun and Associate Member show
931 Gallery, located in Denver's Art district will hold this one of a kind multi-dimensional show including ceramics, photography, encaustic sculpture paintings and drawings. Artists Included are Ceramic Artist Sebnem Duzgun and Associate Members Dagmar Nickerson, Dan Root, Lisa Garbett and Arlo Panter.
OPENING RECEPTION JANUARY 16, 2026 5-9 PM!
Inspired by the dynamic, structured forms of waves—from the crash of the ocean to the invisible frequency of sound—Şebnem Düzgün’s works capture energy in its most solid state.
These are the big hits: moments of high-frequency impact frozen in clay. They are the hot rocks: earth materials pushed to their thermal limit until they sing. It is a collection of rhythms of earth and vitrified vibrations—energy you can touch.
Disclaimer: This exhibition is curated without measurable input from The Rolling Stones—but the rocks are definitely rolling.
In the back gallery Dagmar Nickerson exhibits sculptural forms using encaustic—layers of melted and fused wax combined with pastel pigments, burnt paper, and handmade paper. Natural elements such as leaves, twigs, and seed pods are embedded within the surface, becoming both material and metaphor. Dan Root, who focuses on analog black & white film photography, will be presenting a selection of images from his most recent exhibition, The Future is a Beautiful Country. Lisa Garbett with geometric compositions in Encaustic wax and Arlo Panter in his earthy energetic paintings and drawings.

Variations on a Theme by Barbara Carpenter and Denise Demby 2024-2025
OPENING RECEPTIONS: FRIDAY DECEMBER 12, 2025 5-9 PM AND SATURDAY DECEMBER 13, 2025 1-4 PM.
In the Front Gallery Denise Demby showcases her exceptional paintings from two series of works this year “Floating Fields” and Fields at the Edge of Becoming.” From expressive mark making to minimalist compositions Denise offers a contemplative look at color as a path to transformation. Hanging small and medium scale paintings in traditional and nontraditional methods, Demby asks the question “what do we expect?” With color that gathers to the peripheral leaving open space, the viewer is invited to reflect rather than interpret. In the quiet threshold between stillness and transformation let the viewers imagination unfold with expanses of calm and light.
In the Back Gallery Barbara Carpenter exhibits photographs that are color abstracts with textual overlays shot through glass. The more distorted the glass, the more removed from the reality of the original image. The final image is about color and design. Carpenter has always been drawn to reflections that allow our imaginations to run wild or just to enjoy the image as a visual whole unrelated to the subject. These photographs capture a brief moment in time which change with the movement of the glass or the camera and the change of light.
Guest Artists: Tom Linker and Sue Simon

From garish clichés to covert symbolism, What Was / What Is invites viewers to consider new ways of understanding through a visual feast celebrating process and form.

OPENING RECEPTION "MANIFESTING CLUTTER" AND "WHAT REMAINS" , New works by Tracey Russell and Talia Johns
Talia Johns, a fiber artist, presents What Remains, an introspective and materially diverse exhibition that investigates the emotional terrain of memory, conflict, and endurance. Working with surface-designed fiber sculptures, delicate wire forms, shadow-cut panels, and collaged color studies, Johns examines what endures in the wake of disruption. In her wire sculptures form and shadow operate in tandem, creating ambiguity and nuance. Shadows do more than echo the objects; they reveal new meanings, simultaneously obstructing and illuminating. This exhibition doesn’t seek resolution, but presence. What Remains is a meditation on fragility, resilience, and the quiet force of staying.
Tracey Russell, an abstract expressionist painter based in the Boulder-Denver area, presents Manifesting Clutter, a body of work that elevates the overlooked. Inspired by everyday objects and the piles of mundane “stuff” that accumulate in our living spaces - papers, containers, towels, Russell transforms visual noise into vibrant compositions. What once was a blur in the periphery becomes the subject itself. Through sketches drawn from life and translated into expressive paintings, clutter becomes a visual language of patterns, colors, and lines. This work finds unexpected beauty in the unnoticed and asks viewers to reconsider the emotional weight of the ordinary.
Show Runs July 25, 2025 through August 24, 2025
OPENING RECEPTION "SUMMER SOLSTICE" AND "FLOATING FIELDS" BY Sue Simon and Denise Demby
Artists Denise Demby and Sue Simon will be exhibiting their new solo series of work in this naturally inspired show!
In The Back Gallery
Sue Simon Summer Solstice
“This group of paintings is about summer and the solstice which begins the summer season with the longest day of the year.
I always think of summer as a time that is beautiful and green, with swimming and fragrance and mystery in the dark skies.
It is also a time of extreme heat and bugs and sometimes irritation and can make me long for winter.
This exhibit is as much about the science of summer as the feeling and experience of this special time of year. “
In the Front Gallery
Denise Demby will be showing her new series of paintings called“ Floating Fields”. In this series of work she draws from childhood memories of playing in the open fields in Colorado, the atmospheric impact of incoming weather and the legacy of the abstract expressionist school and its recognition of ancient symbolic forms. The larger scale paintings incorporate expression of play and being in a mental place of pure imagination.
Show Runs June 20-July 20, 2025

TRANSFERENCE: Opening Reception Cristina Bowes
Please Join 931 Gallery for The Opening Reception for Transference, New Works by Cristina Bowes. In the world of psychology, transference is the subtle process of projecting our innermost emotions onto the people and things around us, often without our awareness. This exhibition calls upon the viewer to connect deeply with each piece, to feel its essence and see the message I’ve sought to share. My hope is that, through emotion, you will perceive the meaning woven into every work.

Karen’s paintings are an expression of what exists in her imagination using line, shape, color, and texture. They often reflect her life experiences or thoughts, but are mostly a subconscious
experience. She does not try to create a particular image, but lets her brush ebb and flow, eluding
reality, reaching for the unknown through her expression of art.

The Cosmos and I, Angels in my head
Propositional Truth: A Post Contemporary Meditation, New Works By Jude Barton
My work delves into the concepts of Order, Entropy, and Time, treating them as living forces beyond our control. Though abstract, these images hold deep personal meaning and serve as a meditative process, reflecting on the cycle of life and the universe’s natural order. I hope viewers find their own journey through the balance, tension, and texture within the lines, stepping away from social norms to connect with the simple elegance of a point, line, or circle.
By exploring these shapes, I aim to create a space where everyone can find their place of rest in the complexity of life. The background and negative space in my drawings are just as important as the visible lines, helping to frame and define the work. This balance between structure and open space creates an intimate area for the viewer to reflect and meditate, providing a moment of calm in an otherwise chaotic world. My goal is to offer a welcoming space for personal discovery and peace.
