I’m interested in stored energy in seemingly inert objects.
A cambered steel beam. The tension in a reinforced structural slab. A piece of cable, stretched to its calculated abilities.
Physics and absolutes govern, but visually the object belies its capacity. Hidden until activated.
With those principles in mind, I attempt to convey stored energy in my work. Sublimating drawing in one place, only to bring it out in others. Layering or masking a color, to reveal it elsewhere. To imply what is under the surface.
Shapes are universal, colors and drawing elements are familiar. My intent is to create a dialogue within the viewer. To allow them to interact with the elements and interpret it for themselves.
