SUMMER SOLSTICE AND FLOATING FIELDS BY SUE SIMON AND DENISE DEMBY
Opening June 20, 2025 and running until July 20, 2025, This combined show encompasses two solo shows inspired by nature.
In the Front Gallery
Denise Demby will be showing her new series of paintings called“ Floating Fields”. In this series of work she draws from childhood memories of playing in the open fields in Colorado, the atmospheric impact of incoming weather and the legacy of the abstract expressionist school and its recognition of ancient symbolic forms. The larger scale paintings incorporate expression of play and being in a mental place of pure imagination.
In The Back Gallery
Sue Simon will exhibit her new series of paintings encompassing the science and emotion of the Summer Solstice. In her own words she describes the show “
“This group of paintings is about summer and the solstice which begins the summer season with the longest day of the year.
I always think of summer as a time that is beautiful and green, with swimming and fragrance and mystery in the dark skies.
It is also a time of extreme heat and bugs and sometimes irritation and can make me long for winter.
This exhibit is as much about the science of summer as the feeling and experience of this special time of year.”
OPENING RECEPTION IS JUNE 20, 2025 5-9 PM also featuring Guest Artist Sue Crosby Doyle
